| A fight in 1719, about the rights of ownership of the fields, ended by Eivind Gudbrandsgard stabbing Ola Øylien to death. Eivind ran off and lived as an outlaw in the mountains between Hallingdal and Inner Song for many years. In 1737 he was found dead in Toviken. The story tells that he was shot by a man from Lærdal.
Follow the signs to Vats east of the centre of Ål, pass Rødungen to Toviken. Take a boat trip from Toviken or follow the marked path to the tourist lodge. You can visit the lodge even if youre not taking part in the guided walk. You also have the option to stay overnight at the lodge, and then walk to for instance Bjøberg or Raggsteindalen.
In the footsteps of Eivind the Outlaw
A guided walk In the Footsteps of Eivind the Outlaw about lawless life early in the 18th century every Saurday and Sunday in July and August. The walk lasts for 5 hours and includes a boat trip to Iungsdalen, coffee in a cabin made of stones, a guided walk in the footsteps of Eivind the Outlaw to Eivindbotn, traditional food in Iungsdalshytta and a boat trip back to Toviken at 4pm. Departure from Toviken at 11am. NOK 350 per person, children under 14 years NOK 300.
